Tasmanian or Australian?
Born out of a love for Australia’s abundant natural resources and extraordinary native ingredients, Sodasmith was created with a simple purpose: to celebrate the flavours, landscapes and elements that make this country so remarkable. From day one, our drinks have been crafted with pure Tasmanian mountain spring water and locally sourced natural ingredients, capturing the essence of Australia in every sip.
So why did our labels once say TASMANIAN on the front label? And why are we now transitioning them to say AUSTRALIAN instead? Here’s the story.
Water makes up more than 99 percent of everything we create. It is our foundation, our hero ingredient, and the reason our drinks taste so clean, crisp and refined. We chose Tasmanian water for its purity, mineral balance and connection to an environment that remains one of the most pristine in the world.
Our original TASMANIAN branding on the front of our labels was designed to honour this origin. It was a proud nod to the mountain spring water that shapes every flavour we produce.
But as we’ve grown over the past three years, into retail, on-premise, across states and into new communities, it became clear that this label prominence sometimes created confusion. Customers occasionally wondered whether all of our ingredients were from Tasmania, or if the entire product was produced there. And while Tasmania is one important part of our story, it’s only one chapter in a much bigger Australian narrative.
After listening carefully to feedback, we’ve decided to adjust the front-label branding on most of our products, changing TASMANIAN to AUSTRALIAN.
Nothing about our recipes has changed. Nothing about our sourcing of Tasmanian mountain spring water has changed. What has changed is our desire to be clearer and more accurate about the provenance of our ingredients.
Because Sodasmith has always been about Australia as a whole.
