Blackberry & Balsamic Fizz

The leGINs at Prohibition Liquor recently included our products in their quarterly Bootleg Box. We joined for the online tasting session and were taught how to make this delicious cocktail. Definitely one to try out when you want to impress! There are two versions - have a go at both.

STEP ONE:

Ingredients:

  • 200g blackberries
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 250ml water
  • 30ml balsamic vinegar

Method:
1. Steep water, sugar and blackberries in a pot on the stove.
2. Bring to the boil, then let cool for at least two hours.
3. Strain excess fruit from mixture, transfer leftover liquid into a bottle or smaller container.
4. Add balsamic vinegar and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

STEP TWO: FIZZ

Ingredients:

  • 45ml Prohibition Original Gin
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 30ml blackberry & balsamic syrup (from step one)
  • 100ml Sodasmith Finger Lime Soda
  • 1 egg white (optional)

Method: WITH FOAM

1. Add Prohibition Original Gin, lemon and syrup to a cocktail shaker.
2. Shake with one egg white and two ice cubes until ice is dissolved.
3. Pour into a Collins glass, top with Sodasmith Finger Lime Soda, garnish with fresh mint.

Method: WITHOUT FOAM
1. Shake Original Gin, lemon and syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Pour into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice.
3. Top with Sodasmith Finger Lime Soda and garnish with mint.
